Jay & His "Quarter Horse"

Let's just talk about Jay for a minute. He is a collector, and he may have a disorder when it comes to collecting. For instance, when he decided to collect autographed baseballs, he started bidding on them through Ebay. That was back in the days before Paypal, and he would have 20 bids going at once. Going to the post office for money orders, responding to the sellers and all of those duties somehow became my duties! Let alone the fact that he was using my ebay account. I was so afraid that he would give my name a bad name that I finally changed my password. He hasn't bid on anything since, and I feel bad. But I told him he could start his own account real easy. (But, by this time, we were now the proud owners of 63 autographed baseballs.)
Okay, with that said, he also started collecting quarters way back. Way before they started making the state quarters, so that really enhanced his madness!
Last fall he decided to buy a restored '65 Mustang. With his quarater collection way out of control, he decided to pay for the Mustang with his quarters. (hence, his nickname for the car..."Quarterhorse") He started piling the quarters up for wrapping them in those little sleeves, and worked on them every night that he was home for several weeks. He stacked them neatly in baskets. Then, he found that when we tried to lift them to take them to the bank, they were too heavy for any of us. Just hauling them to the bank was an ordeal, let me tell you. Imagine his dismay when we found out that the bank has a change counting machine that puts them through in just minutes! We did that for the last few batches. Anyway, he got his Mustang and I thought all of you would like to see it. (The funny thing was that the guy he bought it from even accepted part of the payment in quarters. He must have a problem, too.)

For some reason, I pictured Uncle Jay lying on the floor counting his quarters just like a kid would count their Halloween candy. That's an awesome car, by the way.

It is a very cool car. Sometime we'll have to go for a ride. Does he let you drive it? I will agree that Jay has a little "problem", but let's face it, there are a lot worse problems. You better hang onto him.

Love that car, and the post! Jay has always had a flair for the cool stuff! Maybe that's why he married you!
