Birthday Road Trip

It's Mom's birthday, and we wanted to do something fun to celebrate. Ellen drove Mom, Grace, and I to Twin Falls. In years past, Mom and Dad used to enjoy going to Shoshone Falls in the spring, so we thought that it would be a fun way to celebrate. The day was beautiful and so were the falls. Idaho has some breathtaking spots, that's for sure.
And, as always.........the road trip there was very interesting. Grace & I, in the back seat were only afraid for our lives a couple of times. One being on the road to the falls. It was the feeling that we were on two wheels that made us scream, I'm sure.

(Grace & I do not have double chins.....it's just the photo!!)
Grace had been up since 3:30am, and was in full party mood. (We picked her up after her shift at the temple) She was feeling quite chipper on this beautiful spring day!

After enjoying the falls, we drove over to the Twin Falls temple. It was so beautiful and we enjoyed attending this new and lovely temple. (*a little warm there on this 84^ day with the air conditioning not working)
We did endure a little road construction on our trip, but it was such a fun day. Ellen was a good sport....with Grace & I as back seat drivers, and we had a very enjoyable Thai lunch. (recommended by Ardith Walker)
The ride home got a little lengthy, and like her father, Ellen doesn't like to stop much after she's on her way. She got caught out in the middle of nowhere, so we thought we'd take a snapshot.(I don't usually take risque pictures, but Grace made me)
We had a giggling fun time, and hope we didn't wear Mom out too much. She's such a good sport and such a good Mom. We love her so much and are so glad we got to celebrate her 83rd birthday with her. She is a true champion to every one of her daughters and we feel so very blessed! Happy Birthday to our beautiful, sweet MOM.

I was grinning like an idiot the whole time I was reading your post. I can just imagine you two back seat drivers and some of the comments that were made. I'm sure it was fun because Mom's birthday parties always are. Way to party on!

I personally like my mom's super-woman pose. Too much fun - I bet if y'all taped your trips, they would be the highest rated reality show.

What a fun roadtrip! I can't wait to do more of that with you and us daughters/in-law. I better hang on to Audrey's old letters and journal pages so we can always be sure to have a good laugh. (Audrey--you know I'm teasing)
