Then, the next afternoon, our family headed to Twin Falls. We wanted to have a little get-to-gether, and enjoy some great Idaho scenery. We checked in at our hotel, went and had a great dinner, then got ready to hit the pool. (Little Mia included) Pools have always meant fun to me.
The kids got ready for a pretty enthusiastic breakfast........, and after a brief stop at some of the shops nearby, we headed to Shoshone Falls. The scenery there was just beautiful. (I blogged pix of the falls on Mom's birthday road trip)
Then, we kind of ran into a snag in our plans. We were headed to see the "Balanced Rock", but let's just say we are going to get a map in our car.....first thing Monday morning. We followed directions, given to us by a pretty nice looking hippy kid, that must have not liked us. We ended up just outside of Jackpot, Nevada, and we didn't see the Balanced Rock. Nor did we want to after that. Becky said that all of this only took us an extra hour, but it seemed like an eternity to me. Anyway, we grabbed a burger and headed for "the City of Rocks". For some reason, I remembered that place being about 20 minutes off of the freeway. Not so. But, after quite a ride,(and a friendly or not so friendly visit from the local trooper....no, I wasn't driving!) we did arrive. The huge rock formations were just as amazing as I remembered. I have no idea what happened to our earth in that area, but it must have been something big, because those rocks are just down right weird. We couldn't help but get out in them just a little, even though I was afraid the entire time. The little kids were so excited to go exploring in that country. Some of the others got better pictures than I did, but it is truly an amazing place. We are so happy that our family loves each other and that we can have such a good time together. Even when things don't quite go as planned. We stopped for dinner after leaving the City of Rocks around 10pm. Kind of late, but a nice celebration for Layne & Audrey's 7th anniversary. We have plenty to celebrate and love every single member of our family. We missed the Coleman's again this year, but we love them just the same!

We found a great place to celebrate Jayce's 3rd birthday. (

Fun trip! I think I went to City of Rocks when I was younger with my mom, Lee and Ty. I'm pretty sure I saw some special report on it by Jay Hildebrant or something and begged my mom to take us there. I'm glad you guys hd a good and safe trip!
We did go to the City of Rocks. We saw Balanced Rock that trip too. Sorry you guys missed it. It is just a rock, but still, kind of cool. I remember thinking the farm ground between Twin Falls and City of Rocks was really pretty to look at too. Good ol' Idy has some pretty places. Looks like a good time was had by all.
How fun! Hope we can do that jaunt someday...
It was a fun little trip. Sometimes it's just nice to get out of town.
See, you all can do a long road trip. I'll expect you all here in Ohio by the end of the month!
